This project was done in collaboration with artists Mel Chin, Matthew Rodriguez, and Samuel Rodriguez. The piece is one out of three functional tabels commissioned by the City of San Jose for Martin Luther King Jr. Library. The piece is inspired by different generations of Mexican-Americans living and working in East San Jose. The lowrider bicyle emerging from the table being the newer generation, and the table base itself being the foundation provided by elders. This table is in use daily on the fourth floor of the library.
